The fluid force of love is Fabre’s answer to our obsession with the compartmentalization and the labelling of our sexuality. Nowadays we are all expected to come out of the closet: you embrace your identity, you refuse to pretend or to adapt to a prevailing sexual norm any longer.

The closet is a cage, a prison, a norm. Freedom beckons outside the closet, where you are finally free to be yourself.

But is that freedom as pure and liberating as you expected when you were still in the closet? And are you just trading in one closet for another, in spite of all the freedom that you expected to find?

Nowadays on Facebook, you can choose from more than 70 different gender identities. People or cultures that have different beliefs, we want to convert as soon as possible to our “sexual freedom”.
But what has happened meanwhile with love? Is it still allowed or possible to love limitlessly, without naming or labelling your identity in accordance with the current expectations and standards? What about openness and curiosity?

And is it not so much more valuable to share ‘how’ we love instead of “who” we love?

In Fluid force of love, Fabre’s warriors of beauty come out of the closet. Their dancing is an ode to love, which essentially is free of closets. Because love is liberating and fluid. Love pushes back boundaries. Love unites and eliminates all contradictions.

CREATION OF THE FRENCH VERSION
RESURREXIT CASSANDRA

A SOLO BY JAN FABRE BY THE ACTRESS / DANSER: STELLA HÖTTLER

THUR.25th | FRI.26th FEB.
AT 2:30 PM | PETITE SALLE
DURATION 1H20

“This solo performance (movement, dance and text) was created for the fantastic German female performer Stella Höttler. She is 5 years a member of the Troubleyn company. She was taking light and shining in different roles in the last two large scale productions that I’ve created for the Troubleyn company: Mount Olympus and Belgian rules / Belgium rules. The solo performance exists out of two creations: a film from approximately 22 minutes on five flatscreens which are a part of the set. The screens hang or stand in a half circle on the stage. Stella Höttler is bringing a live performance in the middle of this half circle.”

Stella Höttler performs a character that is based on the Greek figure of Cassandra. She is in dialogue with the five screens and with the public. She wears five different dresses on stage as on the five film screens. A new text has been written by the famous Italian writer Ruggero Cappuccio. The topic of this new text is that the character is doomed to repeat her prophecies without somebody believing her. She is an internal outsider, a prostitute and a goddess from the past, today and the future. It’s about the catastrophic disasters that humankind is doing to oneself and to the beloved planet earth (radical politic and ideologic movements, climate change, plastic islands in the oceans, pollution etc. …). The text is an accusation against the inconceivable talent of self-deception that the humankind likes. Maybe a deep longing to be deceived hides in humankind? We know everything about what can happen to ourselves and to our planet but maybe our lust to deceive oneself is greater. This is our tragedy and our shame. Welcome to the world of this new performance with Stella Höttler, Schande über ganze Erdenreich!
